Winemaker Osvaldo Amado once again achieves the region’s highest distinction, awarded to one of his most exclusive wines.

O Raríssimo Tinto DOC Dão 2009The Raríssimo Red DOC Dão 2009, created by winemaker Osvaldo Amado, has just been awarded the title of Best Dão Wine 2025 at the Dão Wine Competition, organized by the Dão Regional Wine Commission (CVR Dão). In addition to this top honour, the wine also received the Platinum Medal (Grand Gold Medal), further reinforcing its excellence and uniqueness.

The Raríssimo Red DOC Dão 2009 is the result of a meticulous selection process and careful winemaking, standing as a true icon of the Dão. “This wine reflects patient work, respecting both time and the unique identity of the Dão. A blend blend crafted from rigorously selected grapes and aged for many years in bottle, the Raríssimo Red DOC Dão 2009 reveals a deep garnet colour and complex aromas, with notes of ripe fruit, jam, spices, and balsamic nuances. On the palate, it shows a firm yet elegant structure, fine tannins, remarkable balance, and a persistent finish, confirming its exceptional character.

This recognition further cements the place of Raríssimo Red DOC Dão 2009 among Portugal’s great wines, celebrating Dão as one of the country’s noblest and most authentic wine regions.
