On November 13, the Quartel das Artes in Oliveira do Bairro hosted the announcement and award ceremony for the 2024 Wine and Sparkling Wine Competition, organized by the Bairrada Wine Commission.
A total of 37 wines stood out among the 132 samples submitted for blind tasting in this year’s edition, receiving seven silver medals and thirty gold medals. This was the most competitive edition ever, with 12 more wines than in 2023, reflecting the strength and determination of the Beira Atlântico and Bairrada producers to do more and better.
The competition took place on October 30 with a jury panel of fifteen members, including winemakers and representatives selected by the Associação Escanções de Portugal. The tasting was led by Francisco Antunes, a renowned winemaker with 36 years of experience, 31 of which were spent working in the region at Aliança Vinhos de Portugal, and assisted by Pedro Soares.
During the same event, the winners of the best wines of Bairrada – 2023 Harvest were announced as part of the XLIV edition of the Concurso da Confraria dos Enófilos da Bairrada.
The Casa dos Amados received seven medals, four awarded by the CVR Bairrada and three by the Confraria dos Vinhos da Bairrada.
